What does it take to maintain stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific over the next 75 years?

On November 20th, 2025, the Reischauer Center was honored to host Representative Ami Bera—Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific—for a conversation at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

Representative Ami Bera stressed that, for the Indo-Pacific security in the 21st century, the US should deepen the cooperation with like-valued countries such as Japan and ROK. To strengthen U.S.–Japan–ROK trilateral ties with consistency, Representative Ami Bera believed this trilateral cooperation should be institutionalized through an ongoing legislative dialogue that can outlast political cycles.

Representative Ami Bera also explored supply-chain resilience, economic coercion, global health security, and the strategic implications of the Pacific Islands.
