VISITING SCHOLARS PROGRAM

On an annual basis, the Reischauer Center hosts approximately 10-12 scholars, journalists, and policy practitioners from the major nations of Northeast Asia in Washington, DC. Visiting scholars spend several months to one year at the Reischauer Center conducting independent research, working with faculty members, and participating in ongoing events at Johns Hopkins SAIS. Scholars also occasionally present their research in the Visiting Scholar Brown-Bag Luncheons and make submissions to the Center’s various monograph series.

The Reischauer Center has recently welcomed visiting scholars from such organizations as: the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI); the Ministry of Finance of Japan; the Ministry of Defense of Japan; Yomiuri Shimbun; Asahi Shimbun; Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO); the Mitsubishi Research Institute; and the Japan Institute of International Affairs.

Interested applicants should contact Dr. Kent Calder (kcalder@jhu.edu) with the Reischauer Center email account (reischauer@jhu.edu) copied for record-keeping purposes.
