Launch of “The United States and Japan in Global Context: 2017”

The Reischauer Center is pleased to announce the publication of the annual yearbook on U.S.-Japan relations, “The United States and Japan in Global Context: 2017.”

Currently produced in connection with a spring semester course taught by Dr. William Brooks, Senior Advisor at the Reischauer Center and Adjust Professor of Japan Studies at Johns Hopkins SAIS, the yearbook is believed to be one of the longest, continuously-published surveys of the role of the United States and Japan in global affairs. This year’s publication includes topics such as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s approach to reconciliation, trade relations between the two countries after the TPP, the impact of Japan’s updated defense guidelines, and lessons to be learned from Japan’s current demographic and healthcare crisis.

An electronic version of the yearbook is now available online and can be found on the U.S.-Japan Yearbook page.
