The Rise of China and Japan’s Response: Competition and Cooperation

On Thursday Sept. 26, the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies welcomed Dr. Narushige Michishita, Vice President of National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS 政策研究大学院大学).

Dr. Michishita, a SAIS alum, presented on the “The Rise of China and Japan’s Response: Competition and Cooperation”, and specifically spoke about Japan’s role in maintaining stability and security for the Indo-Pacific region.

His seminar also addressed the role of alliances in strengthening regional balance of power dynamics with countries such as India, Australia, and China, as well as establishing solutions to better prevent crises in the Indo-Pacific Region.
