The Japan Information & Culture Center presentation

On October 20th, our Public Diplomacy graduate school class led by Professor Brooks attended a presentation at the Japan Information & Culture Center, Embassy of Japan (JICC).

Ms. Kaho Yamamoto, Second Secretary of the Public Affairs office of the Embassy of Japan in the USA, located in Washington DC, gave a presentation focused on the forms of Public Diplomacy practiced by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms. Yamamoto discussed a day in the life of a Japanese public diplomacy officer both within Japan and in the United States, as well as a brief overview of the system by which public diplomacy officers are appointed.

Afterward, students and researchers explored the new museum exhibition on cosplay and learned about Japanese cultural outreach and events in Washington, DC. Thank you for this unique experience!
