India and the Northeast Asian Geopolitical Equations

On Tuesday Sept. 3rd, the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies held their first seminar of the school year: “India and the Northeast Asian Geopolitical Equations.”

Dr. Jagannath Panda, a research fellow and the head of the East Asia Centre at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) in New Delhi, discussed India’s role in the Korean peninsula in the context of his forthcoming book “Indo-Pacific and Korean Peninsula Power Politics.” Introductions were made by Dr. Alicia Campi, Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies | SAIS, who contributed a chapter on Mongolia in Dr. Panda’s book.

The conversation also included the role of India as an active player in Northeast Asia both economically and politically, and how its anti-proliferation concerns to the Koreas potentially align with those of its neighbours, thus presenting incentives for future regional cooperation.
